Irish Glider Network
The MI glider Network has been running since 2008. The Marine Institute has operated a Slocum G1 glider since 2009. A major upgrade in the glider system through the “EIROOS” (SFI) project in 2019 and the “SeaMonitor” (Interreg) project in 2018 led to the purchase of three G3 Slocum gliders with a suite of sensors (temperature, DO, fluorescence etc.). The Marine Research Infrastructures Team is responsible for the successful operation of the gliders. Technical support for glider operations are provided by P&O technicians. None
