Urban Waste Water Compliance
This dataset shows the level of treatment of waste water and the quality of discharges from secondary waste water treatment plants in agglomerations (towns/cities) with a population equivalent of over 500 as required under The Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations, 2001 (S.I. No. 254 of 2001) and 2004 (S.I. 440 of 2004).

The Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations, 2001 (S.I. No. 254 of 2001) and 2004 (S.I. 440 of 2004) set specific standards to be achieved for waste water treatment plants. In addition, the Regulations set out a regime of monitoring by Irish Water of discharges from waste water treatment plants. The EPA is required to report on the quality of effluents being discharged from treatment plants, sewers or drainage pipes which are vested in, controlled or used by Irish Water.

The Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations, 2001 (S.I. No. 254 of 2001) and 2004 (S.I. 440 of 2004), set specific standards to be achieved for waste water treatment plants. The EPA is required to report on the quality of effluents being discharged from treatment plants, sewers or drainage pipes which are vested in, controlled or used by Irish Water. This table provides details from the report of the level of treatment of waste water and the quality of discharges from secondary waste water treatment plants for all agglomerations with a population equivalent of over 500. An agglomeration is an area where the population and/or economic activities are sufficiently concentrated for urban waste water to be collected and conducted to an urban waste water treatment plant or to a final discharge point. The information is supplied by Irish Water to the EPA on an annual basis. The table attributes contain the plant name, the plant id and EPA reg code if applicable.
