Statement

Each Local Authority in Ireland was asked to provide details of the bathing location in their area and XY points are created from the coordinates supplied. The coordinates supplied were standardised in 2011 to only include the exact monitoring location at each bathing water. Other attributes were added by the EPA. Register of Protected Area codes are unique incremental numbers (eg PA3_0125). IDBW (Bathing Water ID for reporting to Europe) is in the format set out in the Directive (County Code, River Basin District, BathingWater type (Lake ( eg. BWL) Coast, Transitional) Waterbody code and a unique 4 digit number.
