Noise Round 1 NRA Data
This is the results of the noise mapping (round 1) of the major roads carried for the EPA under EU Directive 2002/49/EC. The directive is implemented in Ireland by the Environmental Noise Regulations 2006 (SI 140/2006).

The Envoronmental Noise Regulations 2006 transpose EU 2002/49/EC in full. Environmental Noise is defined as unwanted or harmful outdoor sound created by human activities including Road, Rail, Air Traffic and Industry.
These roads fell under the mapping tresholds for Major Road as set out in the regulations; 6million+ vehicle passages per annum. The data was collected from National Roads Authority (NRA) and Local Authorities in MapInfo Tab and ESRI Shapefile to EPA who produced national noise road network. There are 30 roads with stretches carrying in excess of 6 million vechiles per year (over 550km of national road and 72km or non-national road). The decibel bands were set out in the regulations. This data was then used to assist in creating Action Plans by the Action Planning Authorities.
Spatial Accuracy:Dependant on noise mapping bodies accuracy in digitising.
