The International Blue Flag Programme is organised in Ireland by An Taisce – The National Trust for Ireland with support from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).



76 of Ireland’s beautiful beaches and marinas were awarded the prestigious international Blue Flag by An Taisce this year.



The Blue Flag programme has been operating in Ireland since 1988. It is an international award for beach and marina excellence and is operated in Ireland by An Taisce the National Trust for Ireland on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). The Blue Flag is awarded to beaches and marinas which have excellent water quality, and which achieve high standards across a wide range of other criteria including environmental education and information, environmental management, safety and services. It is one of the world’s most recognised eco-labels, operated in over 40 countries worldwide.
