Urban Waste Water Agglomerations causing a key pollution pressure on rivers or lakes

This shows the urban areas where waste water discharges were identified as the sole pollution pressure on water bodies at risk of not achieving good status.

You can get more information on the status of local water bodies, and the environmental pressures which may be causing problems on the www.catchments.ie website.

Statement

The Urban Waste Water Discharge Licences set specific standards to be achieved for waste water treatment plants. The standards set in each EPA waste water discharge licence have been set to achieve the requirements of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive and the Water framework Directive. This dataset shows the urban areas where waste water discharges were identified, with a high degree of probability, as a contributing factor to the less than good status of the river. An agglomeration is an area where the population and/or economic activities are sufficiently concentrated for urban waste water to be collected and conducted to an urban waste water treatment plant or to a final discharge point. The table attributes contain the plant name, the plant id and EPA reg. code if applicable.
