The development of this database was based on the visual interpretation of satellite imagery for 1989 and 1990 and the allocation of land cover types to one of 44 land cover classes. The minimum mapping unit was fixed at 25 hectares. It was created in GIS ArcInfo format, at an original scale of 1:100,000. Linear features smaller than 100m wide are not considered and generalised. The EPA must be notified if any errors or emissions are found. It is not permitted to distribute electronic copies of this data to any other party without the prior consent of the data holders (Environmental Protection Agency). The data source must be appropriately acknowledged.
